BlueChoice HealthPlan regrets to announce that effective July 1, 2009, Roper and St. Francis Hospitals have cancelled the agreements between all of its employed physicians and BlueChoice HealthPlan. View a list of the affected physicians. Currently, the hospital agreements between BlueChoice HealthPlan and Roper/St. Francis will remain in place.
Depending on the type of BlueChoice HealthPlan policy members have, members who visit these employed physician practices will incur larger out-of-pocket costs or have no coverage at all. Members should check their schedule of benefits (or log on to My Insurance ManagerSM) to see if their plan offers an out-of-network benefit.
Even with the loss of the Roper/St. Francis employed physicians, BlueChoice HealthPlan still has a very large network of primary care and specialty physicians in the Lowcountry who are willing to accept new patients. BlueChoice HealthPlan members can access the most up-to-date listing of those network providers here on our Web site using our Doctor & Hospital Finder or by downloading the attached PDF of our Lowcountry network directory.
After the contract ends, members may be eligible to receive in-network benefits from Roper/St. Francis physicians for a transition period if they are already receiving treatment for an acute, chronic or terminal illness or condition that requires continuing care. Members must first call BlueChoice HealthPlan at the number on the back of their ID cards for authorization.
Members should also review our Frequently Asked Questions which will hopefully address most concerns. Those who have specific questions about claims or benefits should call the customer service number on the back of their ID cards.
