Please check your benefits booklet to find out if you have your prescription drug benefit with us. If you do, please take a minute to review how your benefits work for injectable drugs. We cover injectable drugs under two different parts of your BlueChoice HealthPlan benefits.
We cover five specific drugs under your prescription drug coverage — insulin, Imitrex, Lovenox, glucagon and epinephrine. You will pay your regular pharmacy copayments for these drugs.
We cover all other covered injectable drugs through your medical coverage. Please remember, you have a specialty pharmaceutical copayment for each dosing administration of covered specialty injectable medication.
Oral specialty medications are also subject to a specialty pharmaceutical copayment per dosing administration. Members should consult their Schedule of Benefits for copayment amounts. Members must fill these oral medications through a retail pharmacy, not NovoLogix, and they are not eligible for mail order.
There are several injectable drugs that require prior authorization. If your doctor administers a drug in the office that requires prior authorization, the doctor’s office will get the authorization.
If you need any self-administered or home-use injectables (including antibiotics), you must order them through NovoLogix at (888) 558-5850. Your doctor will usually make these arrangements for your care.
Look at our complete list of Injectable Medications and Specialty Pharmaceutical Drugs to learn what we cover, including which injectable drugs require prior authorization.
If you have questions about your benefits, please log into My Insurance Manager and use the Ask Customer Service feature to send a private, secure message directly to a customer service representative.
