Sometimes you need structure. Sometimes you need your space. You get both with our BlueChoice Point of Service (POS) plan. BlueChoice Point of Service gives you all the great benefits of our Primary Choice plan with the added flexibility of using non-network professionals.
For maximum benefits, choose and use a primary care physician to guide your healthcare.
If your primary care physician recommends you see a specialist, he or she will refer you to one who participates in our network. You'll get an authorization that states what services we'll cover according to your plan benefits. And your network doctors will even file claims for you.
For greater flexibility, visit the doctors of your choice, even if they are not in our network. Your cost will be a little more and you may have to file your own claims.
BlueChoice Point of Service covers the medically necessary services we list in the contract we sign with your employer.
- Physician and hospital services.
- Urgent and emergency care.
- Prescription drugs at low copayments.
- Mental health and substance abuse treatment.
- Physical, speech and occupational therapy.
- Ambulance service.
- Dental services needed for accidental injury.
- Durable medical equipment, supplies, original prosthetic appliances.
- Home health and hospice care.
- Routine vision and dental care.
