Hurricane Dorian
Hurricane Dorian
We are taking steps to ensure our members’ health care coverage needs are continuous and flexible in the event of a storm. SCEMD (South Carolina Emergency Management Division) has a page dedicated to Hurricane Dorian updates to help you plan and prepare.
30-Day Emergency Prescription Refills
With the threat of Hurricane Dorian impacting the Southeast, we are preparing to ensure that members’ access to their prescription medications remains uninterrupted. As a result, we are working with CVS Caremark to implement emergency procedures to allow members to have their prescriptions filled should they be impacted by the impending storm.
All network pharmacies will be able to approve one-time emergency refills of a 30-day supply of medication for retail, mail and specialty prescriptions. For overrides for Prior Authorizations, Step Therapy, Quantity limit edits (new or renewal), please call the Customer Service number on the back of your member ID card. Caremark Help Desks are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Additional Pharmacy Resources
Rx Open helps patients find nearby open pharmacies in areas impacted by disaster. CVS.com is up-to date on pharmacy status as well.
Virtual Visits Available 24/7 in All Impacted Areas
Starting Tuesday, September 3rd at noon, Blue CareOnDemand℠ is offering access to general medical care at no cost to residents of the zones affected by Hurricane Dorian. Blue CareOnDemand is offered by American Well (AmWell).
If your doctor’s office is closed or you’re away from home, Blue CareOnDemand virtual visits are a great option for non-emergency health issues. Through a video chat, you can talk to a doctor about issues like cold and flu symptoms, allergies, sinus infections, migraines, rashes, urinary tract infections, pinkeye and more. The doctor can even call a prescription in to the pharmacy nearest you if appropriate.
Go to www.BlueCareOnDemandSC.com to have a video visit at no cost. If you are using a mobile device, you will be instructed to download the mobile app. Log in or register for your Blue CareOnDemand account, then use the code "Dorian" to start your visit.
For medical emergencies, please dial 911.
