BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and BlueChoice HealthPlan of South Carolina, Inc. Group Eligibility Guidelines Related to COVID-19 Pandemic

A Message From Scott Graves

No doubt you’ve received many emails from companies you deal with, whether personally or through your agency, regarding actions being taken due to COVID-19. Let me assure you that BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and BlueChoice HealthPlan — as the leading health insurers in South Carolina — are dedicated to doing our part during this health crisis.

First and foremost, we are committed to continuing our service to you and your customers with as little disruption as possible. We have business continuity plans in place that allow our employees to work at home as needed so we can be responsive to you and your clients. In fact, these work arrangements, albeit on a smaller scale, have been in place as part of our normal business operations for quite some time.

We also have modified processes and procedures to make sure your customers and our members get the care they need. You’ve received or seen on our websites our announcements about the things we are doing — such as covering the cost of COVID-19 testing, waiving preauthorizations for COVID-19 services and temporarily expanding our telehealth options — to not only provide access to care, but peace of mind as well.

As one of the largest employers in the state, we’ve taken other steps to help our employees protect themselves from the virus and stay well, which helps them protect their own families and the communities where they — along with you and your customers — live.

Please let us know if we can do anything to help you and your clients during this time. Thank you for representing BlueCross and BlueChoice®.

In good health,

Scott Graves, President
